Membership artists

De Ploegh has been a national artists' association with its own gallery in Amersfoort for over 75 years. The association has over 100 members representing most disciplines. This makes for interesting crossovers and the opportunity to learn from each other. We challenge ourselves to increase our diversity. Therefore, we actively seek young artists or artists with a migration background, to offer even more variety to our visitors.

The gallery annually hosts 6 to 7 special exhibitions, including the recurring Prints & Multiples exhibition. We also actively participate in fairs and organize various external exhibitions.

De Ploegh is a thriving association that organizes many activities at its exhibitions. In addition, there is plenty of room to contribute your own ideas.
The members of De Ploegh arrange and organize everything themselves for the most part, supported by a team of volunteers. This includes setting up exhibitions, looking for interesting exhibition locations, maintaining the website and social media, PR and recruiting new members. In this way, together you ensure the success of De Ploegh and it is also a fun way to get to know your fellow artists.

The annual membership fee (2024) is € 186.00 excluding VAT, including VAT € 225.00.
Young artists up to 35 years of age annually pay € 93.00 excluding VAT, including VAT € 112.50.

The ballot procedure
Membership is obtained exclusively through balloting, which takes place twice a year. The balloting committee evaluates on conceptual quality (substantive research), visualization of the concept, originality/authenticity, professionalism (exhibitions, commissions, sales), development and motivation.

The balloting committee is composed of artists of LKG de Ploegh from the various disciplines and an external expert. The balloting committee advises the board.

If you wish to be considered for membership, the procedure is as follows:

  • You sign up through the application form.
  • The balloting committee will evaluate your work based on completed details, included photos and link to your website and any social media and make a preselection for the second round.
  • You will submit work for the second round of balloting at the gallery in Amersfoort.
  • The balloting committee makes a final decision.

Of course you will be notified of all decisions made.
The result is binding and no correspondence or discussion is possible on this matter. By participating in the ballot, one agrees to the above conditions and rules.

  • Submit work to gallery for 2nd round: Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, 2 p.m.-5 p.m.
  • Date of final selection: Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024
  • Collection of work at the gallery: Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
